Queens Park Rangers have enjoyed a decent season so far and they were still just about in contention to finish in the top six before this enforced break.
Winning promotion would be nothing new to the R’s as they have experienced the highs, and lows, that football brings quite regularly over the years. And, one particular promotion that is always remembered fondly came back in 2004 when Ian Holloway’s side returned to the second-tier.

A decisive moment in that promotion push came on this day 16 years ago, when an early Martin Rowlands goal was enough for the Londoners to beat Swindon, with fans looking back at that win on Twitter today. The nervy win kept QPR ahead of Bristol City and in that crucial second automatic promotion spot going into the final day and they ensured promotion with a 3-1 success over Sheffield Wednesday.
Therefore, the Swindon game brought back plenty of happy memories and here we look at some of the comments from the fans to the win…
88 mins of purgatory

@DarnMajury @bkirk1882 @adam_kirk2 that was some day. You could feel the tension in the air. No rocking up to the ground at 3.15, everyone was in at 2.55, packed to the rafters. Did sam parkin miss a howler, he was a qpr supporter?

That was my 2nd game I was ever at. place was absolutely bouncing. Parkin was definitely a qpr fan and i think you are right that he missed a sitter.

One of the most nerve wracking home games, Swindon had a good team that year with Sam Parkin up front

That was a great day. Lovely old guy that sat behind me that season had a moan of all moans about us scoring so early. Quite some atmosphere.
