“There is much more to come”: QPR man makes admission as he reflects on season so far

|

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Luke Amos has revealed he is satisfied with how his season has gone but feel he can improve.

The 23-year-old joined the R’s on loan from Tottenham in the summer and he has featured in 25 games for Mark Warburton’s side, to help the team to 13th place in the Championship – although they are only six points away from the play-offs.

Having boasted a six-game unbeaten run prior to this enforced break, it’s fair to say it came at the wrong time for the Londoners. For the players, up and down the country, they have been forced to work from home recently but Amos revealed how he has been using his time to learn French. As well as that, it gave the Spurs loanee the chance to assess how the season has gone and he shared his thoughts to the club’s official site.

Would you sign Luke Amos permanently if possible?

Yes

No

It took some time to adjust to the Championship and I remember I wasn’t my sharpest to begin with but I’m happy to a certain extent. I’ve had some good games and games that weren’t as good but I know there is much more to come.

It’s been a positive year compared to last year. I’m hard on myself because I know I’ve got more in me and I’m determined to show that when we do play these last nine games.”

Amos will hope his role in the last game, a 3-1 win at Preston, will see Warburton use him regularly for the run-in. Having featured for just two minutes in the five games before, the midfielder was brought on as a halt-time sub at Deepdale when the side trailed by a goal, however he helped the team to score three after the break.

As mentioned, that result left the R’s six points behind North End who occupy that all-important final play-off spot. So, QPR will be eager to get back out playing but it remains unclear as to when, or if, that will happen, even though the EFL have made it clear they want to finish the season.
