‘Take a bow’, ‘Should be starting every week’ – These QPR fans heap praise on back up player

|

Lots of QPR fans have praised goalkeeper Liam Kelly for his performance against Swansea City in the FA Cup.

The Scotsman was picked instead of Joe Lumley as he pulled off a number of good saves as Rangers ran out 5-1 winners.

It was the second game in a row where the home side absolutely dispatched a Welsh team, after beating Cardiff 6-1 just a few days earlier.

It was a dominant performance from the Hoops. A brace from Jordan Hugill and a goal from Bright Osayi-Samuel put them 3-0 ahead at the break before George Byers pulled one back on the 60th minute. The next two goals were absolute screamers from both Lee Wallace as well as Josh Scowen as fans enjoyed an absolute classic for the home side.

Who should be QPR's number 1?

After the game, goalkeeper Liam Kelly discussed what a pleasure it was to play behind the team when they’re playing like that. Many fans responded, with some praising the performance and some of the saves made, as well as a couple even suggesting he should be number 1.

Here are some of the replies below…

23-year-old Kelly joined Rangers from Livingston last season and has had to settle for just six appearances this season, conceding 14 goals.

While this game might not be enough to get him the number 1 jersey, he is very much likely to be starting their next cup game, when they face Sheffield Wednesday later in the month.
