QPR need to use what momentum they have and stick with the same team against Swansea – Opinion

Now we face a little bit of a conundrum.

Do you carry on with where we left off? Do you run the risk of ruining the little bit of momentum that the team have created by making wholesale changes? Or just cast the whole thing aside as another distraction and hope that results in one competition don’t affect the other.

QPR begin their FA Cup campaign this Sunday as they take on Swansea City, and depending on who Mark Warburton picks to play will heavily dictate whether or not QPR’s campaign will go beyond the third round.

Warburton’s men find themselves in a bit of a weird position when it comes to the league, twelve points clear of the relegation zone, and six points behind the top-six and the playoffs, which puts them in prime position to actually take this competition somewhat seriously, for the time being at least.

So in my mind, I would keep the exact same starting eleven that played against Cardiff City for the game with Swansea and try to keep the momentum going in the cup, and hopefully transfer that across to the league campaign, and maybe then we’ll be able to get a string of wins under our belts and start moving up the table.

I don’t think that this club, particularly because of the manager, is good enough to make a run at the top of the table, and with the cushion that the club has built up, I can’t envision a relegation battle in the near future, so why not try to make something of this completion rather than dismissing it straight away?

Whilst winning the competition, or even getting to the final isn’t likely for a side like QPR based on how many teams from outside the top tier have made it that far, that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t try and make something of it whilst we can.

Should QPR take the FA Cup seriously, or rest players?

Go for it

No, focus on the league

And who knows, enough wins in the competition might just act as a springboard for the league, and on that occasion, I wouldn’t mind being proved wrong.
