Review – Bonus Game C: QPR 1-2 Leicester City
A crowd bouyed by three successive 4 goal hammerings of the opposition and swayed by a £10 offer to attend the game made for the largest crowd for some time at Loftus Road. It was curious to be watching a football match on a Friday evening but as Sky had decided it was necessary the football clubs humbly obeyed.
I forgot to do this report so it will be brief, Leicester were obviously worried about Rangers having seen them dismantle Barnsley, Preston, Reading and Derby in recent games and so set up to hit the R`s on the counter attack and to defend in numbers when not in possession. The first 20 minutes saw Rangers looking as dangerous as they had against Derby the week before and Taarabt capitalised in the box to slide a sweet shot past Chris Weale from inside the eighteen yard box. But the defensive lapses that saw Derby score two goals were back and QPR conceded against the run of play when Damien Stewart decided not to jump with his man in the 6 yard box and Matty Fryatt headed in from a few yards. The large crowd were none to pleased with the wayward passing and lack of skill on show from many of the R`s players.
Things didn`t get better in the second half with QPR failing to show much urgency and Leicester gaining in confidence. Sloppy passing and saw Rangers put under pressure time and time again and Stewart was removed for the much maligned Fitz Hall and was perhaps carrying a knock. Fitz Hall almost immediately brought down Fryatt with a despairing lunge and centre back partner Kaspars Gorkss must have known he would again be doing the job of two defenders. Quite how Fitz Hall keeps getting employed is beyond me but word on the grapevine is that his wages aren`t cheap so it looks like Rangers are stuck with yet another injury prone waste of space.
Radek ‘calamity` Cerny rounded off the night with a ‘goal kick` straight to Fryatt who was able to cooly slot it past the despairing keeper whilst the defence looked on, totally out of position. It isn`t the first time he has gifted the opposition a goal and it certainly won`t be the last, wheres a certain Mr Camp when you need him?!
All in all Leicester stuck to their gameplan well but QPR gave all three points away with appalling passing and two gifts for the goals, leaving a sour taste in the mouth for the many home fans in attendance.

Build Up – Game 19: Tooting & Mitcham v Horsham
Tooting & Mitcham were, no surprises here, formed of two seperate teams. Tooting Town had been founded back in 1887 and Mitcham Wanderers in 1912 but in order to capitalise in an area with more than it`s fair share of football clubs they merged in 1932 and so became Tooting & Mitcham United. The team are nicknamed “The Terrors” and have a glut of rivals with Kingstonian and Sutton United competing with them in the Isthmian Premier League this season.
Tooting & Mitcham have always been a non-league club but have had notable success against higher league opposition, competing in the first round of the FA Cup ten times including getting to the third and fourth rounds on two seperate occassions. Interestingly Tooting & Mitcham were the first club to use a white ball for a senior match when they took on Bromley in December 1949.
So far this season; Tooting & Mitcham have been up to their old tricks this year, taking on Stockport County in the FA Cup first round last weekend and whilst they were hammered 5-0 they are sitting within striking distance of the play-off places in seventh whilst Horsham are only a few points behind but lie in fifteenth. This league is amazingly tight all the way from bottom to second whilst Dartford run off with the title.

Directions;
The easiest way is to get to Wimbledon Station and then get the tram. Get off at Mitcham tram stop. It is then a five minute walk down London Road on the left.
The nearest tube is Morden which is on the Northern Line. From their you will need to either get a bus towards Mitcham Junction.
By train there are two stations. Mitcham Junction to the South and Morden South to the North of the ground. Again they are a fair walk so either get the tram from Mitcham Junction or from Morden South a bus.
