Race for key man hots up as yet another club shows interest – report

|

West Ham are the latest side to join the Eberechi Eze race, according to reports, but their current potential move for him is on hold.

According to reports from Football Insider, the Hammers have been weighing up a number of potential transfers for the summer window and have two separate lists depending on which division they end up in.

According to a West Ham source, the club are monitoring the situation of the 21-year-old and are plotting a move for the player if the team remains in the division.

With the player being one of the stars of the Championship so far this season, they are not unique in having an interest in the attacking midfielder. Reports suggest that Tottenham, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace have all registered interest, so there’s a good chance he could also join one of those clubs.

Is £20m fair for Eze?

No money is enough

We need more

That's a fair amount

No club will pay that

As the report mentions, the Eagles made a late effort to sign him at the end of January after West Ham agreed to sign Jarrod Bowen.

Obviously, with the outbreak of the coronavirus, it is very hard to see when football will get going again and exactly how it will, so there are still huge doubts in regards to any deal.

The Sun is reporting that the club wants £20m for the player – which has allegedly put Spurs as the frontrunners to sign the player – but it is hard to rule out any of the teams interested at this stage.

When you look at the player’s statistics, you can see why the Premier League sides are beginning to flock: Eze’s managed to score 12 times while assisting eight from his 37 league games, which is obviously a huge chunk for a midfield player.

While QPR obviously wants to hold onto their best player, £20m will do the club a world of good, and could help them revamp their playing squad.
