QPR Pull Off Massive Coup With Latest In Demand Signing

|

Late yesterday evening Queens Park Rangers confirmed that we had pulled off a potential summer transfer coup with the capture of former Brentford centre-half Yoann Barbet.

With speculation about our potential interest in the 26-year-old defender growing throughout the day, I’m not afraid to admit I ignored it as it sounded typical rumour mill fare that simply hinged on him having a Brentford tie with new manager Mark Warburton, albeit they never actually worked together.

I was wrong.

You don’t have to look far around the Vital Network to see that the French versatile defender had been pretty heavily linked with Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United and no doubt there were further links as well.

With solid Championship experience his capture on a free transfer is an amazing piece of business from the club and the player himself admits Warburton’s personal touch approach to the deal was a big part in decision, so in signing a three-year deal I can only imagine he’ll quickly become a key player and a very well liked servant amongst the fanbase.
