“I Want To Prove Some Things” – New QPR Man Makes Promise To Himself

|

With 31-year-old former Rangers left back and skipper Lee Wallace signing on the dotted line last week at Queens Park Rangers, plenty of fans are excited about the kind of player we have signed given some of the words coming from the Ibrox faithful.

“An Exciting Time” “Have Signed A Legend” – QPR Appear To Have Signed A Gem

With Wallace already knowing Mark Warburton from his time north of the border, that obviously played its own part in helping him to make the decision to move south, especially as he’d fallen out of favour for reasons that are still a little bit beyond me.

Coming in with significant experience in the Scottish game from his many years in football, and having worn the armband for a while, he should certainly be able to help stamp his mark on the side as Warburton looks to him to lead by example when it comes to our more youthful charges and talents and in a more indepth interview with the Official Site on Monday following his capture, he definitely seems to suit that role as he talks about needing to earn his spot and not take anything for granted.

“I know for a fact that the manager will help the club to move forward. The main thing that stands out about him is the man that he is; the quality of person. You go deeper than the football side, which we’ll obviously touch on as well. He gave me the captaincy at Rangers, which was a real honour for me and a huge privilege. It’s something I’ll owe the manager for the rest of my career and the impact he has made on me on and off the pitch is massive. He’s been terrific for that reason.”

He went on to say that given the end to his time at Ibrox, he did feel he had something to prove.

“I would say so, more to myself than anyone else. Missing two seasons worth of football – I know I had some minutes last season – but I want to prove some things to myself. I know what I am and I know what I can be. I ask myself some key questions ‘what does my best game look like?’, ‘how do I feel when I’m at my best?’. I know how I am going to get there and now I have got an opportunity at an exciting time to come and play at a top football club. I’m going to meet this opportunity head on and first and foremost I can’t wait to work hard and earn the right to wear the shirt and try and make a positive impact on as many of my teammates as possible.”

Certainly saying all the right things for me.
