“Great News” “Next Please” – 23-Year-Old Signs New Queens Park Rangers Deal

|

Queens Park Rangers confirmed yesterday afternoon that goalkeeper Joe Lumley had signed a new and improved three-year deal at Loftus Road keeping him with us until the summer of 2021.

The 23-year-old stopper is extremely highly rated by many at the club and within the fanbase and he has been with us learning his trade since he was 16-years-old.

Having re-committed his future on improved terms to the club he told the Official Site after putting pen to paper.

“I’ve been here since I was 16, so I’m delighted to sign for another three years. Since I joined I’ve always wanted to play for the first team so I’d do anything for that. Now that the new contract’s all sorted I can push ahead.”

With only four appearances to his name at Queens Park Rangers having made his debut back in January 2016 for us, he has spent time out on loan with Accrington Stanley (first professional debut), Morecambe, Stevenage, Bristol Rovers and most recently Blackpool where he made 18 appearances in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign.

Having returned from his spell at Bloomfield Road when he was recalled early owing to Matt Ingram’s injury, he made two appearances for us at the end of the year and plenty feel he should get a good shot this year.

“My game’s improved massively since I’ve been here and I’ve learnt so much. I’ve taken a lot from the goalkeeper coaches that I’ve had here and now with Gavin Ward I’m learning more every day, so hopefully it can only get better.”

His original deal was due to expire at the end of the 2018/19 campaign.
