‘Deforestation’, ‘Scotland’s number one’ – Plenty of QPR fans delighted after performance

|

QPR have been leaking goals all season, so when two come along consecutively away from home, there’s a reason for celebration.

It’s been a mixed campaign for the R’s who are stuck in mid-table. It might sound boring, but it hasn’t been, with goals tending to fly in and both ends of the pitch.

So when the club managed to hold Forest at the City Ground, it came as a bit of a surprise, but one they are likely to be happy with considering Sabri Lamouchi’s side are challenging for promotion in fifth place.

Only Luton Town have conceded more goals than the Hoops this season, while only Brentford and West Brom have scored more than them.

Who should play in goal?

Liam Kelly

Joe Lumley

In goal was Scottish goalkeeper Liam Kelly. The 24-year-old has been competing with Joe Lumley all of this season for the number 1 jersey, and after losing out for the opening half of the season, Kelly is making the shirt his own.

The club account tweeted about Kelly getting consecutive clean sheets away from home, to which he was met by many happy QPR fans.

One fan even suggested that he became Scotland’s number choice, while another said that performances like those are why he bought his signed shirt.

Here are some of the response below…

Lots of fans were more than happy with the performance of the Scot, and according to WhoScored, he is having the far better season out of the two.

Their algorithm reads that from Kelly’s 13 matches, he averages a score of 6.78; Lumley, on the other hand, has a far less impressive 6.04 from his 21 games.
