Vital QPR assesses Monday’s opponents – Ipswich Town

THE LATEST

Consistency has been a problem for Town but supporters and manager Mick McCarthy will have been given heart by two wins from three over the festive period – this time around the Tractor Boys will be looking to do the double over Rangers and Ian Holloway.

The meeting between the two sides saw tomorrow’s visitors triumph 3-0 with a succession of errors from Rangers helping Town on their way. While the results have improved somewhat for Ipswich, the pressure on Mick McCarthy has yet to abate.

Only Brett Pitman’s fine goal managed to secure the recent win over Bristol City and while it was just the tonic for manager McCarthy there are elements of support still unhappy with the style of play and performances under the Tractor Boys’ boss.

14th place for Ipswich as things stand, not altogether unreasonable given the lack of spending power at McCarthy’s disposal – but for Rangers and Ian Holloway, some serious work is required to propel them up the table to safer plains.
