“Very, very special”: Former QPR favourite makes Adel Taarabt claim from promotion winning season

|

Clint Hill has revealed that former Queens Park Rangers teammate Adel Taarabt was the best player he played with during his career.

The no-nonsense defender, was a favourite among the R’s fans for his committed displays and he starred as the team won the 2010/11 Championship title, playing in 44 games. Neil Warnock’s men collected 88 points in the campaign to comfortably win promotion, which included a 19-game unbeaten run.

Despite Hill’s performances, there’s one man who is best remembered from that side – Taarabt. The attacking midfielder scored a ridiculous 19 goals and provided 21 assists in the season, with many of them memorable strikes.

So, in an interview with the R’s official site, Hill was asked for his thoughts on the Moroccan playmaker and he named him as the standout individual he played alongside, in a career that saw him turn out for Stoke City, Crystal Palace and Rangers among others.

Is Adel Taarabt the best player you have seen for QPR?

Yes

No

He was an unbelievable player, the best I’ve played with. For the large majority of that season he was untouchable. Some of the goals he scored, some of the penalties he got too.

Adel was special, very very special. He was a large part of what we did and we had players around him which allowed him to do that.”

Even though he was outstanding in helping the side to the top-flight, Hill was sent out on loan to Nottingham Forest months after promotion, before returning to Loftus Road in January and going on to play a key role under Mark Hughes as the Londoners stayed up on the final day. Meanwhile, Taarabt couldn’t replicate his magical form the season after, scoring just two goals in the Premier League but he remains loved by QPR fans following his displays from that season.
