Geoff Eltringham from Tyne & Wear will take charge of this weekend’s clash between Queens Park Rangers and Burton Albion.

Competition: Football League Championship
Date: Saturday 27th January 2017

Assistant: John Flynn (Oxfordshire)
Assistant: Daniel Robathan (Bedfordshire)
Fourth Official: Graham Horwood (Bedfordshire)

Moving on from the Keith Stroud show that was the draw with Fulham, we may get a little more leniency out of this weekend’s official. The penalty that Fulham received for Sone Aluko’s dive was more than a little alarming for an official increasingly out of his depth.

This is our second meeting with referee Mr Eltringham this season, following a narrow defeat at home with Aston Villa. Joining the National List of Referees in 2009, Eltringham eventually worked his way through the ranks and joined the newly formed Select Group 2 this year.

Thus far this season he has dished out 79 yellow cards in 25 matches, giving him an average of 3.16 cards per game. He has also handed out four reds this term.

Against the Brewers he will be assisted by John Flynn (Oxfordshire) and Daniel Robathan (Bedfordshire) with Graham Horwood (Bedfordshire) the fourth official.

Flynn ran the line in a home draw to Blackburn Rovers (1-1) and the aforementioned Aston Villa defeat (0-1). Robathan meanwhile was assistant in Holloway’s first game in charge this season, the victory over Norwich (2-1) before overseeing a defeat at home to Derby County (0-1).
