Midfielder Martin Rowlands could be set to start for the Republic of Ireland in their Wednesday clash with Montenegro.
The QPR skipper made an appearance from the bench in the 2-2 draw with Italy at the weekend, and with goalscorer Glenn Whelan suspended Rowlands could be set to start in Dublin.
With Eire already qualified for a playoff place they are rumoured to be resting players who are a booking away from suspension with Keith Andrews, Shay Given and Aiden McGeady.
This could prompt a start for 30-year-old Rowlands who put in a good shift in his first international since 2004.
Former QPR man Liam Miller, now plying his trade at Hibernian in Scotland, could also be set for a surprise start at Croke Park as Eire meet Montenegro on Wednesday.
