Report: QPR appear to reach a dead end as target makes huge statement about his future

|

Well, that appears to be the end of that chapter.

You can’t really get it more legitimate than hearing it straight out of the horse’s mouth as it were.

Lawrence Shankland looks set to stay with Dundee United for the remainder of the season as the Scotland international says that he is going to stay north of the border for the time being:

“It is flattering knowing that there is interest from big clubs in England and Scotland. It is great to hear and read but I genuinely believe that Dundee United is the best place for me at this stage in my career. United are a team on the up and why would I want to leave the club just now? I came here to get Dundee United back into the Premiership and that is what I plan to do.”

QPR have been linked with the 24-year-old, but it looks as if those plans are going to have to be put on hold for a while, or maybe just cancelled altogether.

Which is pretty much music to my ears, as I have said before that bringing in someone from the Scottish Championship and asking him to do a job straight away in the English Championship would be a pretty big jump for someone to make and as a result it could be an incredible risk to bring him in.

And with just a couple of hours to go until the end of the window, it will be interesting to see if there are any backup plans in the pipeline, or if we are going to go through the rest of the season with just Jordan Hugill to lead the line after reports came in from West London Sport that Jan Mlakar is set to spend the rest of the window in Italy.

Will QPR get in another forward before the deadline?

Yes

No

Now to see if the club’s financial restrictions that Mark Warburton keeps going on about are going to be too restrictive to get some support in.
