Peter Ramage believes that Rangers still have the potential to get into the playoffs this season.

Speaking to the Mirror following Rangers hard-fought victory over rivals Bristol City, Ramage thinks that the side can reach their pre-season target of a playoff place.

‘We can definitely still make the play-offs. If we keep winning games we’ll be right up there.” said the former Newcastle United defender.

‘I know we’re seven points off them now but if we keep plugging away then we can do it. A play-off place was our target at the start of the season and it’s still our target now.

‘Just because we’re a little bit behind at the moment doesn’t mean we shouldn’t still feel we can achieve it.”

The playoff chase this year has been riddled with defeat and inconsistency as the sides near the top seem intent on throwing away a place in the Premier League.

Rangers run without a win in nine seemed to put pay to any waning ambition they had of a top six finish but the last couple of wins have instilled a belief in the side.

Ramage continued: ‘It would be nice to get a bit of help with the teams around us losing, but we’ve just got to concentrate on winning games and see where it takes us.

‘And if we don’t do it this season then the way things are going here I’m very confident we can put a charge on next season.’

Back to back home wins have helped to keep the flickering playoff flame alive, but the R`s will now have to wait two weeks before their next test against Crystal Palace.
