QPR Man’s Future Is “Still Up In The Air” But He Wants To Commit

|

Queens Park Rangers defender Joel Lynch has admitted he’s still waiting on the club for an indication of what the future will hold in terms of a new deal with his existing terms expiring at the end of the campaign.

The 31-year-old Welshman has been at Loftus Road since the summer of 2016 having arrived for an undisclosed fee from Huddersfield Town, and he has 82 starting appearances to his name with a further five showings from the bench, returning a total of seven goals.

He’s been a regular this season under manager Steve McClaren, with 29 showings and a return of three goals, and this week he told Evening Standard that he felt we had a bright future ahead with the former England man in charge and he wanted to be a part of that, but it depended on what decision the club made and whether or not they were willing to open talks.

“It is still up in the air at the minute, I am just waiting. I enjoy it here and I would want to stay, but I have just got to wait and see what the men in charge say. I worked with the gaffer before — I had him when I was at Nottingham Forest. He has his ideas and he is a very good coach. He makes you work hard and I think when you really take on what he is trying to coach, you then you pick up results and play well. I think in the next few years the club can really push on. I would like to be a part of that.”

With the summer nearing and with a few loan deals still to secure to foreign leagues despite our transfer window closing, I’m sure we’ll see some contract steps in the coming weeks.
