QUEENS Park Rangers were sent back to the Championship in emphatic fashion by a Leicester City side in full throttle.

As they did last season – the Foxes appeared head and shoulders above QPR as they cantered to victory at the King Power stadium.

Alex McCarthy handed recent England call up Jamie Vardy his first goal on a plate, spilling a routine effort from Riyad Mahrez to see Vardy place home ably.

Rangers conceded a second shortly before the break when Mark Albrighton was quickest to a rebound, leaving several limp challenges in his wake as he powered home.

Rangers continued to embarrass their suffering support after the break as firstly Leo Ulloa turned home a Wes Morgan speculative effort before Estaban Cambiasso rifled home a fourth with consummate ease after more limp and lifeless defending.

The shining light of a dismal season – Charlie Austin – netted a consolation as he nodded home an effort from a Joey Barton free-kick – but Rangers day had well and truly peaked there.

The Foxes hammered home the advantage with a fifth as substitute Cole Kpekawa inadvertedly assisted record signing Andrej Kramaric as he netted the host’s final goal.

A disastrous day to round off a disastrous season – QPR now due for a wholesale clearout ahead of next season’s Championship campaign.
