With Queens Park Rangers seeing off the challenge of Peterborough United on Tuesday evening in the first round of the EFL Cup in 2018/19 and avoiding a banana skin in the process, our first win of the year didn’t go unnoticed by fans.
First-half goals from Luke Freeman and Pawel Wszolek gave Queens Park Rangers the 2-0 advantage in the tie inside of the opening six minutes of the match and we held on to that quite comfortably even though they posed more of a challenge in the second half.
A clean sheet isn’t to be sniffed at and the first round of a Cup competition is never quite as easy as it looks on paper, so we’ll take plenty of confidence from the game as we turn our attentions back to our Championship campaign.
One man who did stand out for fans was 20-year-old Osman Kakay who was making his third appearance of the season and only his eighth appearance in total for the club.
