Preston North End defender Callum Davidson will be unavailable for the Lilywhites’ trip to Loftus Road a week tomorrow.

The veteran full back ripped a hamstring while on international duty with Scotland and is still a few weeks away from full fitness according to boss Alan Irvine.

‘We can’t rush it, we have to be very careful with Callum’s recovery schedule,” Irvine told the Lancashire Evening Post.

‘It is difficult to put a time scale on when he will be ready again – it has got to be right.

‘If we bring Callum back too quickly and it goes again then we could be looking at much longer and we certainly don’t want that.

‘Callum is making progress, but I’m not anticipating him featuring next week.’

Meanwhile there is some positive news for the Scotsman with former Welsh international Paul Parry set to return to the side following a hamstring complaint.

Irvine expects him to be in the squad that travels to Loftus Road next Saturday.
