Jay Simpson has called on the Queens Park Rangers supporters to make lots of noise in the R’s bid to reach the playoffs.

The Arsenal loanee has bagged three goals for QPR in his brief period with the club, but has already experienced what a confidence boost a good atmosphere at Loftus Road can provide.

In line with QPR’s new ‘Be our 12th man’ campaign, striker Simpson told QPR.co.uk the importance of having a boisterous home crowd at Loftus Road.

‘It breeds confidence,’ he said.

‘It gives the players an extra buzz to go out there and perform as it showed against Barnsley. We started off brightly, we got the first goal and the fans were right behind us and pushed us on.

‘The fans were right behind us and I think they made it intimidating for the other side to play. So if they can do that again and we can continue our good form then I`m sure we can pick up a lot of points on the way.

‘When the home team has got the fans behind them it gives them the momentum.’

Simpson hit his first goals for Rangers against Cardiff City in a two-goal win at one of the division’s favourites.

He added to his tally with a poachers effort in the 5-2 demolition of Barnsley at Loftus Road a fortnight ago.

He believes that the squad is showing the potential to be a playoff side, and on current form the lone front-man is sure that the R’s can make the top-six.

‘Everyone`s got individual goals they want to achieve but as a squad I feel we`ve got to achieve the playoffs at least,’ he continued.

‘Everyone believes we can be there and the way we`re playing at the moment we deserve to be there.

‘There`s a long way to go until the end of the season but I`m sure we`ll pick up a lot of points and I`m sure we`ll be in the playoffs.’

Following international week the R’s face four home fixtures in 18 days in what could be a crucial period in terms of their playoff aspirations.

Fixtures against Preston North End, Reading, Leicester City and Crystal Palace could help shape the R’s season and go a long way to proving their Championship credentials.
