Opinion: More of the same for QPR required ahead of FA Cup clash with Sheffield Wednesday

|

It’s that time of the season again where the league takes a little bit of a back seat and we all prepare for the F.A Cup

Two rounds in a row we have been given a Championship team, so that makes things a little bit harder when it comes to team selection.

It’s not like you’re playing a Premier League team you’ve got no chance against so you rest players. And at the same time it’s not a team in a lower division who you think you can beat them with a second-string side so you do the same. You’re kind of stuck in the middle.

I said ahead of the last round that the club needed to use the momentum that they had picked up against Cardiff City and take that into the game against Swansea City, and lo and behold they did exactly that.

Now I feel that we should be doing pretty much the same thing with the game against Sheffield Wednesday.

In the article ahead of the Cardiff game, I noted that QPR were in a weird position in the league in that we were too far away from either end of the table that we were unlikely to get into a ‘battle’ towards the end of the season and so we can take the F.A Cup seriously this season, and who knows if we get lucky with the draw, we might just make a trip to Wembley.

Well, not a lot has changed on that front ahead of the Sheffield Wednesday game, so we’re pretty much in the same boat, and so the mission statement should really be the same during this game. It’s a nice little money-spinner for the club to keep progressing like this, and hopefully we can keep this little run going.

So I would go for a full-strength side, hopefully win the game and turn that into some wins in the league.

Should QPR be taking the FA Cup seriously?

Yes

No

Just as an aside, I’d also like to see Jack Clarke given the full 90 minutes as well, the sooner we can get him fully integrated into the side, then the sooner he’ll be adjusted and be able to unleash the potential that Spurs saw in him when they forked out so much in the summer.
