One QPR Attacker Returns, Another Could Head Out On Loan

|

The speculation was right, Queens Park Rangers confirmed earlier today that David Wheeler has returned to the club from his loan spell out with League one side Portsmouth, but speculation also suggests Paul Smyth could improve his game time with a few clubs sniffing around his services.

The 28-year-old headed out to Fratton Park back in early August and he was supposed to spend the entire campaign with them, but with only six starts and 12 substitutes showings, Pompey manager Kenny Jackett (click here) had spoken of us potentially recalling him this month and he said he hoped it wouldn’t happen, but we have now confirmed we have used the option to bring him back to Loftus Road.

He doesn’t come immediately back into manager Steve McClaren’s thoughts as he’s Cup tied for this weekend’s clash against Portsmouth in the FA Cup.

In other news, we could soon see another departure on a loan spell as Charlton Athletic are said to have registed interest in taking 21-year-old Paul Smyth out for the remainder of the campaign.

It was believed the Northern Ireland forward was set to join Charlton Thursday last week, but the deal stalled with other clubs showing an interest in him so we were weighing up the options.

It’s suggested a decision won’t be made on him until next week.
