Queens Park Rangers boss Jim Magilton has avoided the infamous accolade of being named manager of the month.
The R’s boss had been nominated alongside West Bromwich Albion’s Roberto Di Matteo, Blackpool’s Ian Holloway and Newcastle United’s Chris Hughton, with the latter taking the prize.
A positive month for the R’s saw wins over Barnsley (5-2) and Cardiff City (2-0) combined with useful points against Peterborough United (1-1) and Newcastle United (1-1).
He didn’t have long to contemplate missing out on the award as the R’s were beaten for only the second time this season at Swansea City yesterday.
Even the most sceptical supporters will have to concede that Magilton’s impact has been more positive than his predecessors in recent times.
