With Queens Park Rangers’ start to the Championship campaign of 2018/19 being pretty much a straight disaster with four defeats on the spin really piling the pressure onto manager Steve McClaren, some fans on social media have wondered why we just didn’t appoint former Ipswich Town gaffer Mick McCarthy.
Now McCarthy is very much a marmite man, you either love him or hate him in football but his style of play is very effective in the Championship tier and given the financial constraints he had to work under at Portman Road, getting them in and around the Play-Off mix as he did on occasions proves he can get the best out of a sensibly put together group.
That’s the kind of nous we need at Loftus Road given the constraints we are under and it’s not unfair to say that McClaren is largely cut from the ‘spend money’ cloth when he has had greater success in the game.
Given current feelings some think making that switch would be a no-brainer.
He would be a great manager. Always had respect for him.

Mcclaren has been shafted royally but if we still have 0 points by the internationals break we need to sack him@and bring in mock McCarthy. Simple #QPR

If Steve McClaren goes then Mick McCarthy, as @SamStevens71 said, could be a shout…

You know things are bad at QPR when people are suggesting Mick McCarthy should be our next manager ????

It’s not a sexy suggestion by any means, but we’re not in an attractive place and when you look at relative records and success, McCarthy’s hat more than goes into the frame for me.
