Deal confirmed for player with rich footballing heritage – report

|

QPR have confirmed that Lewis Walker will be extending his deal at Vanarama National League Premier side Aldershot Town.

After joining in late November, the player has gone onto make 10 appearances for the club, picking up 13 points in the process.

The deal was confirmed on the club’s website and it is said that the 21-year-old will be returning to Loftus Road on April 25.

Walker has been with the R’s since joining in November of 2018, and he has gone onto make four appearances in the Championship for the club towards the end of the last campaign.

Since then he hasn’t been able to make his way into the squad, subsequently being loaned out to Aldershot Town, where he hasn’t been able to make the biggest of impacts. He joined with the Shots being stuck towards the bottom of the National League in 19th, but since they have risen up the league to 16th, with him featuring on nine separate occasions.

He has started five games but has not been able to add a goal or assist despite mainly playing as a centre forward.

Walker has a rich footballing heritage, with his older brother being Nottingham Forest and Lincoln City loanee Tyler Walker, and his dad being Des Walker, a centre half who had 59 appearances for his country.

With Walker’s deal expiring at the end of the season, he might find it difficult to get another contract being at the age of 20. With the forward being on the fringe of a National League team, they could consider him too far off the level of the Championship to sign another deal.

Nevertheless, with the R’s focusing on youth they may be willing to give him a chance in the hope he turns out like his brother.

Walker now has 11 games to prove his worth to the club, with them looking over their shoulder and only being 3 points safe of relegation.
