Reading defender Shaun Cummings remains in upbeat mood despite contrasting results for the Royals and QPR on Saturday.
Speaking to Get Bracknell newspaper the former Chelsea man believes that Saturday counts for nothing as the Royals look to hit form at Loftus Road.
He said: “We know what we can do so that`s not a problem.
“In this league anyone can beat anyone, so the fact that they beat Preston 4-0 is nothing.
“We could go there and do a job, it`s not a problem, especially if we play like we did for the first 20 minutes at West Brom against one of the top teams in the league.”
Cummings was a disappointing performer at the weekend with former Rangers loanee Jerome Thomas running riot at the Hawthornes and giving the former Baggie a tough time.
A side that has been more adept at challenging towards the higher echelons of the Championship, their league position on the face of it seems somewhat of a surprise, until you scratch beneath the surface.
A new era is taking hold at the Madejski, and unfortunately for Royals fans it is a less prosperous one, with a chairman seemingly looking for a way out, and Brendan Rodgers short on funds to bolster his squad.
Cummings admitted that there is a great deal of disappointment surrounding the club at the moment at the nature of their start.
Defeat for Reading could see them drop into the bottom three if results elsewhere don’t go their way.
“It`s been difficult these past few weeks,” admits the defender.
“We haven`t played badly in the past few games, but it`s just about the mentality in trying to keep the lead and knuckle down.
“Everyone is disappointed after going 1-0 up that we let West Brom get back into it and you can`t do that.
“We probably let go of the pedal a little bit when we didn`t get the second goal.”
QPR take on Reading this evening with the kick off time 7.45pm. The Royals are expected to bring fewer than 1,000 supporters that will populate the upper School End.
