THE Football League have released a statement with regards to Flavio Briatore’s current situation as owner of Queens Park Rangers.

The following statement has been released by the Football League indicating that they will wait on the ruling in a civil case between Mr Briatore and the FIA with regards to his lifetime ban.

The Football League has noted the decision by Queens Park Rangers Director Flavio Briatore to commence legal proceedings against the FIA in the French Courts.

Lord Mawhinney, Chairman of The Football League, met with Mr. Briatore on Friday, where they discussed the recent decision of the World Motor Sport Council. Mr. Briatore informed Lord Mawhinney of his intention to take legal action against the FIA.

The Football League will now await the Court decision before taking any further action.

Mr Briatore’s position at Queens Park Rangers is currently under investigation for his role in the Crashgate Scandal that took place at Singapore last year.

This has a bearing on his position as Chairman of QPR Holdings because if he remains guilty when the dust has settled from the civil hearing, he could be in violation of the Football League’s ‘Fit and proper persons test.’
