Queens Park Rangers defender Tom Williams has expressed his desire to impress at Loftus Road and earn a permanent deal.

The Peterborough United defender penned a short-term loan deal with QPR yesterday, but appears to have no future at London Road as he looks for a permanent deal in W12.

The Cypriot international is out of contract at the end of the six, bringing to an end his sixth spell in total with the Posh.

Speaking to QPR.co.uk the defender stated his intention to earn a permanent switch back to West London after two previous loan spells.

‘My first aim is to break into the side, which will be tough, and then prove myself to the boss and the fans.’ said Williams.

‘That’s my aim and if I can do enough to seal a permanent move further down the line I’ll be chuffed.

‘They were keen to bring me in for that reason and I couldn’t be more delighted to be here.’

Having played against Rangers at Loftus Road already this season, Williams appreciates the undoubted strengths that the current squad possesses.

Williams laid on an assist for Aaron McLean in a 1-1 draw against Peterborough earlier this season, and looked sharp in his overall display.

He believes that Rangers have the strength necessary in the squad to compete in the Championship this season.

‘Without any doubt, it’s one of the squads in the league that everyone envies,’ he said.

‘There seems to be a real buzz about the place and knowing the Championship as I do, I don’t think there’s many teams that are looking forward to playing Queens Park Rangers at the moment.

‘People are really starting to stand up and take notice of what’s going on here.’

Williams has had two previous spells at Loftus Road on loan from Birmingham City in 2002 and 2003 – playing in the Division Two playoff final.

During his spells he scored one goal against Huddersfield Town as he looks to rekindle his career at Loftus Road.
