I, for one, am not surprised to see Neil Warnock’s name amongst the candidates for September’s Manager of the Month award. To be honest, I would have been more surprised if he hadn’t been nominated!

For those of you who have slept through September, Warnock’s achievements saw us win 4 and draw 1 of the 5 matches, opening up a 6 point gap at the top and boasting a goals scored column that reads 24, and goals against 2 (oh yes, and both of those were scored in August at Derby!)

These achievements are being measured against Malky Mackay of Watford, Brian McDermott (Reading) and Billy Davies (Forest).

Additionally, Jamie Mackie is up for the Player of the Month award for his goal-scoring prowess. Mackie is the Championship’s leading goal-scorer – having already equalled his record of 8 goals all last season, in the opening 9 games for us, this season!

Mackie’s competition comes from Jimmy Kebe at Reading, Chris Iwelumo (Burnley) and Watford’s Danny Graham.

The panel’s decisions will be announced on Thursday 7th October – watch this space!
