Talented Australian youngster Nick Ward is the latest player to be lined up by Gary Waddock.

20-year old Ward plays his football in his homeland and has been a huge star this season.

Playing for Perth Glory he picked up the ‘Hyundai Rising Star Award’ as the best under-20 player in the league over the course of the campaign.

Ward netted 5 goals in 13 appearances for Glory and is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Australian football.

He’s been a fixture in the national under-20 set-up and was recently called up to the senior Socceroo squad, with a view to making the World Cup squad.

  • Ever the optimist, aren’t you! ;o) Perhaps we’d better not mention Ned Zelic at this juncture… Seriously though, yes it’s good to see that Waddo is setting about rebuilding the squad but a lot of questions remain to be answered.

  • They do but if we can keep Danny and Cookie, it’s nice to see we’re looking at fresh uncovered talent.

  • He’s had a trial with Leicester and under the terms of his NEW two-year contract he’s not allowed to leave for another trial anywhere in Europe.
