Rowan Vine slotted home a penalty on his long-awaited return from a broken leg to help the reserves to victory over Charlton.

Vine earned himself the kick when he was felled by Ashley Miller – the returning forward was able to net despite a spirited effort from Nicky Weaver, who guessed right but couldn`t connect.

Weaver was having an inspired evening at Stonebridge Road, the home of Blue Square Premier side Ebbsfleet United, by thwarting Vine and Antonio German on several occasions.

The pressure eventually told as the dominant Rangers doubled their advantage courtesy of a tremendous solo effort from Romone Rose. The young winger left several defenders in his wake before powering a shot past Weaver with little under ten minutes remaining.

Vine lasted just over the hour mark in the victory being replaced by young forward Josh Parker, but this certainly marks a positive landmark in his road to recovery.
