SUNDERLAND midfielder David Vaughan is expecting a tough fixture as the Black Cats visit W12

Under new management the green shoots of recovery are starting to display at the Stadium of Light. Martin O’Neill’s experienced hand is looking to guide the Black Cats away from the danger zone.

A chance to leapfrog hosts Queens Park Rangers is in the offing this weekend and Welsh international Vaughan believes that they will have to summon all their courage to come away with a positive result.

‘It’s a tight ground with an intimidating atmosphere,’ he told SAFC.com

‘We’ll have to have the courage to get on the ball and force the result we want.

‘They’ll want to get back on track after their defeat to Manchester United, and so we will after losing at Spurs.

‘It should be an entertaining game.’

Vaughan featured twice against QPR for Blackpool as they achieved promotion to the Premier League, so he will undoubtedly appreciate the apetite that should be coursing through the Rangers squad at present.

The last time the two sides met at Loftus Road, Ray Jones was on the scoresheet as QPR lost out at home to the eventually promoted Black Cats.
