James Linington from the Isle of Wight will be the man in the middle as Queens Park Rangers face Wigan Athletic.

Competition: Football League Championship
Teams: Queens Park Rangers v Wigan Athletic
Date: Tuesday 21st February 2017

Assistant: Neil Davies (London)
Assistant: Robert Hyde (Essex)
Fourth Official: Dean Whitestone (Northamptonshire)

Select List 2 official James Linington takes charge of the fixture between Queens Park Rangers and Wigan Athletic. Normally it is at this point we cast aspertions on the previous refereeing debacle but Andy Davies was but a side show to a stunning away win – not much to see here.

Mr Linington has overseen a Rangers game already this season – the victory over Cardiff City away from home where QPR briefly went top of the Championship. Briefly being the operative word as we came down to earth once again with an almighty bump.

He will be assisted by Neil Davies (London) and Robert Hyde (Essex) with fourth official Dean Whitestone (Northamptonshire) also among Select Group 2.

Mr Davies will have his first taste of W12 this season while Mr Hyde ran the line in Ian Holloway’s first game in charge – the 2-1 win over Norwich City back in November. Fourth official Mr Whitestone was referee for the slender cup win over Rochdale (2-1) while also being fourth official in the home draw with Fulham (1-1).

Mr Linington has upped his card count this season compared to last – no question. 103 yellow cards in 23 games gives him an inflated average of 4.47 cards per game – someone clearly has his eye on the top flight. Accompany that three red cards – two in his last three games.
