Keith Stroud from Hampshire will be the man in the middle as QPR host neighbours Fulham

Teams: Queens Park Rangers v Fulham
Competition: Football League Championship
Date: Saturday 21st January 2017

Assistant: Matt Foley (Hertfordshire)
Assistant: Mark Pottage (Dorset)
Fourth Official: Dean Whitestone (Northamptonshire)

Here we are again – Keith Stroud once again appears in a QPR fixture. This will be the fourth time this season he has officiated a QPR game. A strict official, he has never been far from controversy – even this season alone – as he prepares for another Rangers clash this weekend.

Mr Stroud started his refereeing career in 1988 before progressing into the football league in 2000 as an assistant referee. He then subsequently joined the referee’s list in 2002. He was promoted to the national list of referees in 2004 and also was appointed a FIFA assistant in the same year. Mr Stroud has also spent time a Premier League official.

He has already overseen a home draw with Blackburn Rovers (1-1), the away day card festival that was Nottingham Forest in Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s last game in charge, sending off a player from either side in an otherwise non-eventful game. More recently he gave Brighton & Hove Albion a spot kick and sent off Nedum Onuoha in a 0-3 defeat.

For those keeping count – three games; 14 yellows, three reds and a penalty.

He has been fourth official for Rangers away win over Cardiff City (2-0) and a home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers (1-2). He also was the fourth official in the reverse fixture at Craven Cottage.

He will be assisted by Matt Foley (Hertfordshire) and Mark Pottage (Dorset) with fellow referee Dean Whitestone (Northamptonshire) on fourth official duties.

Pottage ran the line for Mr Stroud in the aforementioned Blackburn draw and Brighton & Hove Albion defeat as well as being the assistant in the reverse fixture – the win over Fulham at Craven Cottage. Foley meanwhile was assistant in home defeats to Sunderland (1-2) and Aston Villa (0-1)

Fourth official Mr Whitestone took charge of Rangers’ EFL Cup win over Rochdale (2-1).

28 games have passed with a staggering 136 yellow cards being handed out – an average of 4.86 cards per game, even higher than it was when they last had the misfortune of meeting this official. A phenomenal 11 red cards have also been handed out this term.
