Simon Hooper from Wiltshire will take charge of Queens Park Rangers’ FA Cup Third Round tie against Blackburn Rovers.

Teams: Queens Park Rangers v Blackburn Rovers
Competition: FA Cup – Third Round
Date: Saturday 7th January 2017

Assistant: Adam Crysell (Northamptonshire)
Assistant: Tim Wood (Gloucestershire)
Fourth Official: Lee Collins (Surrey)

Hooper joined the National List of referees in 2008 and has recently joined Select Group 2. His profile has been somewhat more modest in recent times after a more excitable start to the season in front of the cameras.

The official seemed destined for the top as he waved a flurry of yellow cards and a red during a Championship draw between Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.

He is being assisted by Adam Crysell (Northamptonshire) and Tim Wood (Gloucestershire) with Lee Collins (Surrey) the fourth official.

Crysell ran the line in Rangers 3-0 defeat up at Ipswich Town earlier in the season. Wood meanwhile was assistant in Rangers 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic.

Thus far this season he has taken charge of 23 games and has dished out 79 yellow cards – giving him an average of 3.43 cards per game. He has also issues one red card – Hildeberto Pereira getting a second yellow for over-exuberant celebration of that Forest leveller at Aston Villa.
