THE CHAMPIONSHIP promotion race has taken a twist today in preparation for QPR’s fixture on Monday.

Queens Park Rangers fans had to watch on as the promotion hopefuls did battle in the Championship.

The surprise result came at Deepdale as Swansea City slipped up away from home against Preston North End.

Iain Hume’s early spot-kick set the Lilywhites on their way, while the writing appeared to be on the wall when Ashley Williams equalised for the Swans.

It was not to be for the Swansea who slipped to fourth at the expense of their rivals Cardiff. The Bluebirds were convincingly victorious over Derby County (4-1) at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Norwich also did their promotion hopes the world of good as they dispatched of ten-man Scunthorpe United with consummate ease.

Hatricks from Grant Holt and Simeon Jackson saw the Canaries canter to a win over the struggling Iron.
