Queens Park Rangers defender Damion Stewart is eyeing a return to first team football in pre-season after his horror injury against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Stewart suffered a sickening clash of heads with Calvin Andrew in the opening seconds of the R’s weekend win at Selhurst Park.

The Jamaican defender was able to walk off the pitch but was later stretchered away to hospital with a fractured skull and internal bleeding.

Neurological tests have revealed nothing concerning according to physio Paul Hunter who says that Stewart will have to rest up in hospital while tests continue.

Positively for Stewart however, Hunter revealed that no surgery will be required as he looks to get back on the road to recovery.
