Queens Park Rangers captain Martin Rowlands suffered low-grade ankle ligament damage in the weekend stalemate with Blackpool.

The injury however isn`t as bad as first feared for the Rangers medical team, with Physio Paul Hunter keen to play down the severity of the ankle complaint.

Hunter told QPR.co.uk: ‘It’s a low grade ankle ligament injury.

‘It’s not serious at all, but we’ll monitor him over the next few days and get him back on the training pitch as soon as possible.’

Rowlands has just returned to first team action after suffering anterior cruciate ligament damage that kept him out of the second part of last season.

His successful come-back during pre-season enabled him to take his place in the starting line-up against Blackpool as plays a key role in Jim Magilton`s plans.
