Shoebridge is still relatively new on the refereeing circuit following his introduction to the national list in 2005. His first fixture was an F.A. Cup tie between Morecambe and Northwich, in which the visitors came out on top courtesy of a Paul Brayson hatrick.

Mr. Shoebridge`s first game at this level came last season as Coventry City beat Cardiff City away from home, on that occasion his didn`t use his cards. This was a theme that ran concurrent throughout the earlier stages of his refereeing career where he dished out 64 bookings and no red cards in 34 games.

So far this season the official has officiated a number of Championship games as he continues to establish his name in refereeing circles. This included the R`s away win against Norwich City – only their second in 2008.

The signs weren`t good when he justifiably sent off Matthew Connolly for two bookable offences with Kaspars Gorkss being thrown in to find his feet alongside Damion Stewart – a partnership that was set to flourish.

He deemed there was encroachment from a free-kick and Martin Rowlands slammed home a re-taken free kick at Carrow Road to hand Iain Dowie`s side a much needed three away points.

Since then he has seemed prudent with his cards, booking wisely and sensibly by and large during his 26 games this season. In those game has dished out his yellow card 53 times and given three reds, averaging him 2.15 cards per game.
