PREVIEW |
Darren Ferguson’s Preston have it all to prove in the Championship after a mediocre spell last time out – the ex-Posh boss not covering himself in glory at either Peterborough or Deepdale.
He now needs to step up and earn his previously billed reputation and take a Preston side beyond a 17th-placed finish and into the higher echelons of the league.
Prediction: 17
The additions, barring Paul Hayes, have been underwhelming as the Lilywhites seemed destined for a season of mediocrity under Ferguson Jnr.
An already floundering rearguard has been added to by Craig Morgan, from relegated Peterborough and the ageing Wayne Brown, while the loss of Ross Wallace and Neil Mellor cannot be understated.
I would be surprised if Preston were relegated but its an entirely more plausible prospect than the Lilywhites challenging the top six in this division.
