Another match another new referee as for the third game in succession QPR are officiated by an unfamiliar man in the middle.
Craig Pawson from South Yorkshire will officiate the Carling Cup second round tie between Queens Park Rangers and Accrington Stanley, a referee with a year`s experience in the Football League.
Upon being promoted to the National List in 2008, Mr Pawson`s first task was Grimsby`s 0-0 draw with Rochdale at Blundell Park.
He then sent off two players, one from either side in Tranmere Rovers 2-2 draw with Southend United. Francis Laurent was sent off for a head-butt while Tranmere midfielder Steven Jennings was given his marching orders for two bookable offences.
Ronnie Moore post-match raised questions of the strength of the official throughout the game: “There were one or two controversial decisions. I said to the linesman at halftime that he should swap roles with the referee, because he was making more decisions than the referee.”
In his first season predominantly in League Two, he managed to take charge of eight League One clashes and a solitary Championship fixture – Coventry City`s 2-1 home win over Blackpool. In 23 games that season he dished out 58 yellows and three reds.
So far this season he has already taken charge of two Championship sides, Preston North End in their 5-1 Carling Cup demolition of Morecambe and more recently Derby County`s slender 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle. He averages a booking a game so far this season.
He has taken charge of Accrington Stanley twice, both in the 2008-09 season, firstly a 1-1 home draw with Notts County before a momentous away win against Macclesfield in March.
