Peter Ramage was happy with Queens Park Rangers friendly draw against NK Celje on Wednesday night, and singled out Angelo Balanta for praise.

The young Colombian netted two goals, initially to get the ball rolling on 20 minutes following a neat one-two with Mikele Leigertwood.

After Rangers had been pegged back the promising forward hauled them level thrashing a powerful drive beyond the Slovenian goalkeeper.

Former Newcastle United full-back, Ramage was keen to praise the fledgling striker indicating there is more to come from the young talent.

“I thought he was brilliant,” Ramage told QPR.co.uk

“That`s what Angelo`s capable of and he took his goals well, I think the two goals we did score were very good team goals, from Wayne and Pat. That`s the kind of stuff we`re looking to do in these pre-season games.”

The full back was also happy with Rangers` facilities in Slovenia, with everything from the pitch to the hotel earning high praise from the defender.

Ramage found the conditions testing in Slovenia, which while he believed benefited them in the pre-season learning process, but may have contributed to the R`s conceding goals just before and after half time.

“I thought we played well to be fair, Ramage continued.

“It`s good for us because it helps with the fitness side of it and it helps with out concentration as well which we lacked in the last minute of that half and the first minute of the second half. Maybe the heat had something to do with it, maybe it didn`t.

“Obviously there`s a lot of things to work on, the lads are still a little bit rusty. A few misplaced passes and things like that but generally I thought it was a really good work-out and there`s a lot of positives we can take from it”

Ramage will be looking to play a part in Sunday`s friendly against NK Karlovac in Croatia as Jim Magilton must decide whether to give trialist David Connolly a go upfront, and to persist with Ivan Gvozdenovic at full back.

Meanwhile competition in the squad doesn`t limit itself to the playing field with Ramage backing himself to fend off the rest as the squad partake in a few rounds of golf later today.
