QPR Slip Further Behind

QUEENS Park Rangers ambled ever closer towards relegation after a bleak stalemate against a workman-like West Ham United.

A fixture that clearly meant more to the hosts QPR than West Ham in what was undoubtedly a pivotal clash in Rangers fleeting fight for safety.

A fixture fraught with nerves produced very few chances of note – but when a neat move culminated in James Collins handling Bobby Zamora’s effort, Rangers had their chance.

Charlie Austin saw his spot kick well saved by the legs of Adrian and it set the tone for a frustrating afternoon in W12.

The Hammers were surprisingly unambitious for a side with nothing to play for but the hosts visibly struggled to break down their stubborn opponents.

Richard Dunne was astounded to see his goal ruled out in the second period for an apparent foul on Adrian as the belief visibly drained around Loftus Road.

Chris Ramsey’s men struggled to emulate the levels reached in the defeat against Chelsea and even set-pieces seemed to take an eternity as the game ebbed towards its inevitable conclusion.

Rangers now surely nailed on for life back in the Championship next season as a performance bereft of ingenuity and enterprise sees QPR firmly rooted in the drop zone.
