Sports journalists, whether they are professional or otherwise try to think of a headline that will capture the imagination of the reader. Does the above capture yours?

Paul Smith, a professional sports columnist wrote in today’s Sunday Mirror (13 January) that Gianluca Vialli is being lined up to replace current Rangers boss Luigi De Canio.

The following paragraph is a direct quote from the Sunday Mirror

“….but De Canio has failed to settle in London and continues to struggle with the language. That has led to complaints from several first team players who claim communication between them and the boss is problematic.”

“But the board had already decided to part company with the Italian and feel they require a far more high profile coach at the helm.”

Can Rangers supporters take the above with a pinch of salt or could there be an element of truth in Paul Smith’s article.

Only time will tell but if your believe in speculation it appears the writing is already on the wall for Italian De Canio.

  • what a load of crap,….at least i hope it is,this manager is a breath of fresh air,we have someone who looks to be methodic in what he’s doing, the language barrirer must be a slight hurdle in an ideal world but does not warrant an exit.

  • You really really really don’t want Vialli in the hotseat…You are being sensible with the money you are spending at the moment…decent, solid players. GV is a cheque book manager and will fill the team with expensive has-beens…

  • Oh and on the language debate..Is the Mirror gonna try and oust Capello from the England job? His english is worse than De Canio’s by quite a way.

  • if this is true i think it is a very very good move Vialli has a proven record and knows english language very well

  • In my opinion Vialli would spend money like it was confetti and still fail to get us into the Premier League. Nah, I don’t want the bloke here.

  • Sorry …..I agree with hoops,it will be a total blunder if Vialli takes control, if for personal reasons De Cannio can not continue then we will have to accept it and another manager will come in, but please dont give Vialli the job, just for the sake it.Get LDC an english tutor
