Player Profile: Massimo Luongo, one of four Spurs loanees at Swindon Town, will be looking to exploit a number of successful loan spells to break his way into the Tottenham first team as the likes of Kyle Walker, Andros Townsend and Danny Rose have done in recent times. Primarily a box-to-box midfielder, the Sydney born player, who could also represent Italy or Indonesia should he wish to do so, has been a key figure in Spurs developmental side and successful periods spent at Ipswich and Swindon last year has propelled him to the top of Tottenham`s hot prospects.

Many were expecting the midfielder to ply his trade in the Championship this year, but in Luongo Swindon have a talented and intelligent player who has been their team`s standout player so far this season. As with any youngster, consistency and goals are primary targets to improve on, but given time Luongo could be a well-regarded Premier League player in years to come.

Player History:

Massimo Luongo was born in Sydney, Australia, and after impressing on trial at Tottenham signed his first professional contract in January 2011. He was impressive for the U18`s for the remainder of the season as he netted three times in eight appearances. He made his first team debut in September 2011 in a League Cup tie, but unfortunately missed Tottenham`s 8th penalty in the shootout against Stoke.

In July 2012 Luongo joined Ipswich Town on a season long loan. Having made 9 notable appearances for the Tractor Boys his loan was terminated as Mick McCarthy was appointed manager following the sacking of Paul Jewell. He featured for Spurs U21`s but went out on loan to Swindon Town in March where he scored twice in nine appearances for The Robins. He re-joined the club on a season long loan during the summer.
