Barnsley’s recent acquisition Liam Dickinson has been identified by Vital QPR as the One to Watch ahead of Saturday`s season opener at Loftus Road.

Name: Liam Dickinson

Date of Birth: 4/10/85

Former Clubs: Stockport County, Derby County, Huddersfield Town, Blackpool, Leeds United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Peterborough United

Appearances (Goals): 158 (50)

Goals have proven to be a problem for Barnsley over recent seasons and they will be looking to new recruit Dickinson to add some much needed firepower to their frontline. Still only 24, he could prove to be a shrewd piece of business by Barnsley boss Robins.

The young forward toured the lower leagues with Irlam Town, Swinton Town and Trafford, before a successful spell with Woodley Sports saw him attract the interest of league clubs. It was Stockport that eventually snapped up the young prospect.

Dickinson continued his professional career at Edgley Park, having his most prolific term as a football league player in the 2007-08 season netting an impressive 21 times from 32 starts. He was instrumental in Stockport`s promotion to League 1, scoring Stockport`s third goal in the playoff final.

Dickinson signed for Derby County on 1 July 2008 for a fee of around £750 000. In order to gain first team experience Liam experienced numerous loan spells at Huddersfield, Blackpool and Leeds United.

On his return to Derby, Dickinson was told he wasn`t part of the clubs plans and on 14 July 2009 he signed for Brighton. After finding first team opportunities hard to come by, Liam moved to Peterborough on loan before signing for new club Barnsley on a two year contract.

Dickinson will be keen to make an instant impact for his new side and the Rangers defence will have to do it`s best to keep Barnsley`s new signing quiet.
