Danny Welbeck has been selected as VitalQPR’s ibe to watch at our fixture at the Deepdale.

The Manchester-born forward started footballing life at his home-town club, Manchester United in 05-06. He made his under 18 debut with 3 games to go in the season. Aged 16, the striker made himself a regular in the under 18 team for the following season making a total of 28 appearances.
His impressive under-18 performances earnt him a contract with Manchester United in the summer of 2007. His under 18’s ambtitions for the 07-08 season were short lived beacuse of his promoton to the reserves. His appearances against the reserves led to him being called up for Manchester United’s mid-season friendly against Al-Hila. Welbeck was brought on for the last 25 minutes for the game but his debuet would not be one to remember as he missed a penalty in the final minute of the game.
The 2009 season would prove to be the season where Welbeck made his competitive debut. Welbeck started in United’s Carling Cup campaign and was a key palyer in their 3-1 win over Middlesborough. The youngster made his second appearance against the Superhoops and was famously (for us R’s fans) brought down in the box to give the red devils a dubious penalty. His first goal came soon after, when he scored a 30 yarder against Stoke City. The youngster scored two more that season, both in the FA cup.
This season started out well for Danny who scored in the first 2 League Cup games of the season. The season has also seen the youngster make his European debuet in a loss to Besiktas. The striker was rewarded with a new contract at the end of the decade and give a first team opportunity with his manager’s son at Preston at the start of this decade.
Welbeck had a good start with Preston, scoring 2 in his first three games. The strikers form seems to have fizzed out since early Feburary but it still a threat and one that the QPR defence need to watch.
