Player Profile: Watford have embraced their Italian rebranding in managerial appointments, transfer recruits and their playing style and the ‘we`ll score one more than you` approach implemented under Gianfranco Zola has been discarded in favour of a more ‘solid` style . The sometimes uninspiring football experienced under Italian manager Guiseppe Sannino has led to a season of mid-table mediocrity for The Hornets, and Daniel Tozser, a January recruit from Italian side Genoa, has been at the forefront of Watford`s dependable playing style. The Hungarian has played every minute since he arrived at Vicarage Road, except from a 4-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest in which his absence was particularly notable, and the defensive midfielder has drawn plaudits from his sixteen Watford appearances so far.

Tozser has been Watford`s playmaker, dictating their tempo with a crisp left foot and allowing the likes of McGugan, Abdi and Deeney to creative license front. Watford fans have been impressed with the 28-year-old`s ability to play the holding midfield position, as well as offering a direct threat from set-pieces, and they will be eager for their owners to ‘sign him` from parent club Genoa over the summer. Watford`s away from has been far from impressive this season and Tozser will be key to The Hornets ability to keep things in check for his side on Monday.

Player History:

Daniel Tozser graduated through the youth ranks at Hungarian side Debrecen and Turkish side Galatasary but having failed to make any appearances for their first teams eventually moved back to Hungary to join Budapest based side Ferencvaros. He spent two years at the club, making 54 appearances and scoring three goals.

Tozser joined Greek side AEK Athens in 2006 and played an important role in the side`s league and Champions League campaigns. He was praised for his impressive performances, but his form stagnated and in 2008 he signed for Belgian side Genk on a four-year-deal for a fee of around ?1.5 million, having made 35 league appearances for the Greek side. He managed to guide Genk to the Belgian Supercup in 2011 and as vice-captain helped them to win their first league title in 10 years.

He was strongly linked with a move away from Belgium following praise from numerous opposition managers and in 2012 moved to Italian side Genoa. Despite arriving with a big reputation the midfielder struggled to make a name for himself in Italy, albeit in a poor Genoa side, and having made 22 appearances without scoring a goal joined Watford on loan for the remainder of the 2013/2014 season, with a view to a permanent deal. He has made sixteen appearances for Watford so far.
