Former England manager Steve McClaren has been linked with a coaching role at Queens Park Rangers today (Tuesday)

The Daily Mail is reporting that the 52-year-old could be set to join Harry Redknapp’s backroom staff at Loftus Road following his recent departure from a second spell at FC Twente.

McClaren’s previous stint in the Championship proved unsuccessful, leaving Nottingham Forest after a poor spell in charge at the City Ground that promised a great deal more than it delivered.

He had more successful times at Twente, the first time around and Middlesbrough, while having excellent title pedigree as part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s back room set-up at Manchester United.

His infamous ‘wally with the brolly’ spell in charge of England saw them disastrously fail to qualify for Euro 2008. His experience would prove useful however, if maybe not his overall managerial prowess.
